The Closing Ceremony

Oh my, the Closing Ceremony last night was every bit as good as the Opening Ceremony although it had a very different feel to it. The Closing Ceremony offered ‘A Symphony of British Music’ and was fantastic, something there for every generation! I really liked the opening scenes with a newspaper covered London, all famous landmarks, vehicles and even the costumes were covered!

After the opening scene the athletes made their way into the stadium to a massive applause and stood in the triangular parts of our flag.

The centre of our flag was where the main staging was although the artists moved about the stripes a fair bit, mostly in vehicles. Stars included The Who, The Spice Girls, Take That, Tinie Tempah, George Michael, Fatboy Slim, Madness, Jessie J, Annie Lennox, Kaiser Chiefs, Taio Cruz, Beady Eye with lead vocalist Liam Gallagher, Ray Davies, Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, Pet Shop Boys, One Direction, Muse, Elbow, Emeli Sandé, Eric Idle, Julian Lloyd Webber, Ed Sheeran, Richard Jones, Mike Rutherford and Nick Mason. So quite a mix! At the end of the Ceremony Lord Coe and Jacques Rogge (IOC Chairman) gave speeches and finally the torch was extinguished, I will admit I had a lump in my throat at this point. The Olympic Games experience in London have been fantastic! I am very proud to be British right now.
My images were taken from the official Olympic website, there are many more images on there if you'd like to have a look.
